Teri Hatcher has signed on to voice a dual maternal role in the animated film, Coraline for Focus Features and the first film from Laika Entertainment.

Henry Selick is writing the screenplay and directing the film from the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2002 international best-seller. The Hollywood Reporter says Teri will play both the mother of the title character (voiced by Dakota Fanning) and her other mother in a parallel universe. The young Coraline steps into a world that appears to be a much better version of her own reality, but when her artificial parents attempt to keep her there forever, she must escape the dangerous situation and take a brave journey to get back home.

Coraline features songs from rock group, They Might Be Giants; a 2007 release has been scheduled.
