Edward Furlong's version of John Connor from the sci-fi action classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day is getting an action figure from NECA exclusive to San Diego Comic Con 2019. As a part of NECA's Ultimate line of figures, John stands at 7" tall with over 25 points of articulation. He also comes complete with his dirt bike he rode in the movie to escape the T-1000's wrath. Many accessories are also packaged with the figure, including interchangeable heads, a removable backpack, hacking device, and Endoskeleton arm in display case. Like other Ultimate NECA figures, it will come in a display-friendly box with an opening window flap to keep the condition pristine for collectors.
As the character wasn't born yet in the original movie, John Connor first appeared in T2 portrayed by Edward Furlong. As the leader of the Human Resistance responsible for taking down Skynet in the future, John is the target of a homicidal terminator sent back in time to kill the destined warrior as a young child, preventing the human uprising. With the help of his mother Sarah (Linda Hamilton) and another terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), John must ultimately survive and hopefully prevent the fateful day that would come to be known as Judgment Day.
Although he'll soon have his own official action figure from NECA, Furlong never reprised the role of John Connor in any more movies. Because of issues in his personal life, Furlong was unable to appear in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, with Nick Stahl initially replacing him. The role was recast once again with the next sequel, Terminator: Salvation, with Christian Bale taking over the part. Once again, the part was recast with Jason Clarke in the last movie, Terminator: Genisys. Still, even after seeing so many notable actors portraying John Connor, Furlong's version is still perhaps the most memorable of them all, and there's a certain disappointment that he was never able to reprise the role in any of the official sequels.
Furlong might be finished with the Terminator series, but his Terminator 2 co-star Linda Hamilton makes her way back to the franchise this year. However, Furlong's teenage likeness will reportedly be used in the movie by way of CGI. Terminator: Dark Fate will serve as a direct sequel to T2, ignoring the other sequels which has killed off the character off-screen. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also back on board to co-star. With the seal of approval of the director of the original two movies, James Cameron, there's a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel, despite the negative reception of many previous Terminator movies. A teaser trailer was recently released, and hopefully the movie will turn out as awesome as the teaser suggests.
To get your hands on the John Connor action figure from NECA, you will need to make it to San Diego Comic Con 2019. Exclusive to the event, the figure will cost you $50. It may not be easy to get ahold of for those living far away from California, but this will definitely be one of the most far out figures in your collection if you can manage it. This information comes to us from The Arnold Fans.
