Paramount Pictures announced today that its highly-anticipated sequel Terminator 5 has moved up five days from June 26, 2015 to a Wednesday opening on July 1, 2015. As of now, it is the only movie slated for release on that date, although, ID Forever - Part 1 and an untitled animated project from Illumination Entertainment are scheduled for release two days later on July 3, 2015. However, we reported earlier this month that ID Forever - Part 1 may be pushed to a 2016 release date.

We reported earlier this month that Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing the sci-fi action sequel from a screenplay by Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to star, although no plot details have been confirmed, except that this is the first of a stand-alone trilogy. We reported in June that the actor will play a human who is sent back through time to protect the parents of Sarah Connor in the 1940s and 1950s. This causes the machines to create a terminator robot in his likeness, which is sent back to the year 1984 to kill Sarah Connor in The Terminator. However, this report, which also revealed that Dwayne Johnson is playing the Terminator, has not been confirmed.

No production schedule was given for the sequel.
