Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, and he's brought the first (albeit very brief) teaser for Terminator: Dark Fate. This is a franchise that has been begging for reinvention, or perhaps just a return to what made it good in the first place, for some time now. James Cameron's original remains a pivotal moment in sci-fi filmmaking and T2 is easily still one of the greatest sequels ever made. Now, Cameron is back working on the series as a creative producer and we're going to get our first good look at what he's helped to cook up in just a couple of short days.

Taking to social media, Arnold Schwarzenegger shared a very brief teaser for the upcoming entry in the franchise. The logo for the movie flashes across the screen, followed by a release date for the full trailer, which is set for Thursday, May 23 at 6 a.m. PST. So those who are feeling particularly eager to see the first footage for themselves can set an alarm accordingly. Sadly, there is no actual footage in the video. The actor shared the teaser with the following caption.

"Since I'm from the future I can officially report that the Terminator trailer is 48 hours away."

It should be noted that Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't just being a good sport and sharing the teaser because he's associated with the franchise. He is indeed, once again, reprising his role as the T-800. Additionally, Linda Hamilton is coming back as Sarah Connor for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. New cast members include Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Natalia Reyes (Birds of Passage), Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages) and Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who will portray our new Terminator.

Tim Miller, known best for directing Deadpool, is in the director's chair. He worked very closely with James Cameron on the story and they hope that this can be the start of a brand new trilogy. The idea is that Terminator: Dark Fate will ignore every sequel beyond T2, which is good news for most moviegoers and bad news for the small contingent of Terminator: Genisys fans out there. As for what we're going to see in the trailer? We can't say for sure, but footage was showcased at CinemaCon last month, in which, Sarah Connor took out two Terminators on her own, so we should get to see her kicking some serious ass.

It was previously revealed by Tim Miller that we should expect the first trailer for the movie online soon. With Rocketman set to arrive in theaters next week, it makes sense for Paramount to have this trailer out in time in order to attach it the upcoming major release. We'll be sure to bring the trailer your way as soon as it's made available online Thursday. In the meantime, be sure to check out the brief teaser from Arnold Schwarzenegger's Twitter account below.
