It's already been a great day for Terminator fans. The first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate arrived earlier today and now we have a sneak peek behind-the-scenes with a new featurette. James Cameron promises the direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day is a "white knuckle ride", which is reminiscent of the first two installments. Cameron also says the new installment is "gritty." Grit was something that had been lacking in the franchise in the previous sequels without Cameron's participation.

Gabriel Luna's Terminator is one of the biggest draws in both the Terminator: Dark Fate trailer and the featurette as we see him split into two and then ultimately get temporarily taken out by Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor, who is back and stronger than ever. We get to see a bit more of the mysterious dark-colored cyborg and what he can do. He looks like a T-1000, but with considerable updates to his abilities and healing power. However, he may have some weaknesses involving shotguns and rocket launchers, much like Robert Patrick's T-1000 from T2. There is something mysterious about Luna's character, which leads one to believe there will be some interesting twists and surprises when the movie hits theaters.

When talking about Terminator: Dark Fate, James Cameron says, "You pick up the characters that we knew from Terminator and we carry them forward." Director Tim Miller believes the "biggest thing is that Linda's returning," when talking about the sequel. Linda Hamilton has not been involved in the franchise since 1991, so it is pretty big news to have Sarah Connor back on the big screen. Hamilton states, "Being back is wonderful. Sarah's a force to be reckoned with and I was ready to explore that." Arnold Schwarzenegger is also excited to have everybody back for Terminator: Dark Fate.

The Terminator: Dark Fate trailer is fast-paced and that is by design. James Cameron and Tim Miller reveal the sequel moves fast. Miller was excited to have Cameron on board for the movie since, "nobody knows the material like he does." This is true and probably why the franchise took a dive over the past few decades in his absence. The choice to ignore the previous installments seems to have been the most logical way to move forward, even though some of the more hardcore fans may be disappointed with that decision.

Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) return in their iconic roles in Terminator: Dark Fate, which hits theaters on November 1st. Tim Miller (Deadpool) is behind the camera while James Cameron and David Ellison are on board as producers. Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Dark Fate also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta. While we wait for more promotional footage from the sequel, you can check out the behind-the-scenes featurette below, thanks to the Terminator: Dark Fate Twitter account.
