Just a few days after original Terminator director James Cameron praised the upcoming Terminator Genisys, Paramount Pictures has released a new preview that sheds light on Arnold Schwarzenegger's aging Terminator known as The Guardian. Emilia Clarke reveals that Skynet sent back a Terminator to kill Sarah Connor's parents before she was even born, and this Guardian has been by her side ever since. We also see a brief glimpse of a fight between John Connor (Jason Clarke) and the Guardian, while Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals that the Guardian is "glued to her 24/7" to ensure there is no surprise attack.

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future.

The supporting cast is rounded out by J.K. Simmons, Douglas Smith, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance and Sandrine Holt in this upcoming action-thriller, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). Much like the plot of this film, Terminator Genisys tries to reset the future for the franchise as a whole, with two more planned sequels in the works and a television series as well. Check out the latest footage, and let us know if you plan on seeing Terminator Genisys when it hits theaters July 1.
