While a new sci-fi/action franchise was rebooted at midnight last night and while it didn't terminate the record books, it still performed strongly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Terminator Salvation took in an estimated $3 million from midnight screenings last night.

The film opens wide in 3,450 theaters today and it was projected that the film will break $70 million from the five-day holiday tally, although the film still does have some competition over the weekend.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is opening in 4,096 theaters tomorrow and the spoof comedy Dance Flick will open in an estimated 2,300 theaters on Friday as well.
