Back in November, Marvel and Netflix announced that they are developing new TV shows based on comic book characters Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones, who will all converge in The Defenders mini-series. While no cast members have been attached yet, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews reveals he is interested in taking on one of these iconic characters, especially since he was once in the running to star in Marvel's Luke Cage feature that is still in development. He also commented on his detractors who claim he may be too old to take on the role.

Of course, it isn't known if Marvel and Netflix are even ready to begin casting yet, since no writers or producers have been attached. When asked if his schedule on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was renewed for a second season by Fox on Friday, would prevent him from starring as Luke Cage, the actor had this to say, while commenting that he took himself out of the running for Marvel's feature version a while back.

"Anything can happen. All I know is scheduling and all that stuff - anything can happen. I'm open to all kinds of things, but who knows? Actually I took myself out of the Luke Cage running a while back, just because it was people trying to put people against each other. [It was] Idris (Elba) vs. Michael Jai (White) and I'm like, 'Wait a minute, this is not even greenlit! Can we talk to Marvel? Why are you talking to me? Don't put me against my homeboy for a movie that's not existing.' I said, 'Take me out!'"

Now that the project is greenlit as a TV series, the actor has revealed that some believe he may be too old to play Luke Cage in the 13-episode series, which focuses on his crime-fighting exploits in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City.

"I heard [it's greenlit] but I haven't gotten any calls. I've been hearing stuff like, 'Oh you're too old,' and I'm like, 'Man do my workout 20 years ago and we'll talk about who's too old (laughs).' Like I said, anything can happen, I never rule anything out. I'm game. There are no rules. What's up, Marvel? I'm right here, baby. I ain't goin nowhere. You know where I live!"

Do you think Terry Crews is the right actor to play Luke Cage in this upcoming Netflix series? The show won't debut until 2015, so it might be quite a long time until we hear any confirmed casting details regarding this series.
