The famed Westworld actress Thandiwe Newton is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to feature in the third installment of the Magic Mike films, Magic Mike's Last Dance. While the details about Newton's role in the film are unclear, it seems she will be playing the female lead opposite Channing Tatum.

Thandiwe Newton has previously gained praise for her performance in the sci-fi drama series Westworld. Her performance in the show earned her three Emmy nominations and she later went on to win a Primetime Emmy Award and a British Academy Film Award. She has even received a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in the 2004 film Crash.

In addition to the upcoming Magic Mike film, Newton has some exciting releases to look forward to. She will be starring in Reminiscence, opposite Hugh Jackman, and in the Amazon Studios film All the Old Knives, with Chris Pine. Reminiscence is also a project that will see her working with her Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.

Magic Mike's Last Dance will see the return of the male stripper, Mike Lane, a character that is loosely based on Channing Tatum's own experiences as a stripper in Florida. Toby Emmerich, the Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, commented on this upcoming film, saying:

Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike? We're thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven, and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike's wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance, and humor.

Channing Tatum himself seems to be quite excited about returning as this iconic character. He recently posted a photo on Instagram, of what appears to be the first page of the Magis Mike's last Dance script. He captioned it as "Well world, looks like Mike Lane’s tapping back in."

Steven Soderbergh, who helmed as the director for the first Magic Mike, will be returning for Last Dance after an absence from the second film, Magic Mike XXL. Reid Carolin, who was the screenwriter for the first two films in the series, will be returning to write the upcoming one as well. However, there have been no reveals regarding the storyline or the plot of the film. From the name Magic mike's Last Dance, it seems that this now might be the final leg of Mike Lane's on-screen journey.

The first Magic Mike film grossed $167 million at the box office and the combined global gross of the first and the second one is nearly $300 million. It remains to be seen how Magic Mike's Last Dance performs, with it perhaps being the last one in the franchise. The film will release exclusively on HBO Max.
