Ryan Reynolds’ deal with Netflix is looking better all the time for the streamer as his latest movie The Adam Project has jumped straight to the third position on the streamer’s list of all-time best debuts. According to the hours-watched metric that Netflix introduced in November, The Adam Project opened with 92.4 million hours viewed over its first three days, putting it behind another Reynolds movie, Red Notice and Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up.

The Adam Project teams up Reynolds once again with Shawn Levy in a time-travel adventure in which the Deadpool actor plays a pilot who has to join forces with his dead father and younger self in order to save the whole of humankind. The film has picked up a lot of positive reviews and from its watched hours, it is clear that audiences have been lapping up the newest addition to Reynolds’ Netflix offerings.

The film falls quite a way short of Red Notice, which had the combined star power of Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot to take it to its 148.7 million watched hours back in November and currently sits as the top opening weekend since Netflix started compiling figures in this way. Reynolds reportedly signed a massive new deal with Netflix last year to keep him working with the streamer. This puts Reynolds in a powerful place, having already worked his way into projects with Disney, Marvel Studios, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Apple TV+, making him one of the most sought after and popular actors around at this time.

When he is not promoting his Gin brand or Mint Mobile via his social media accounts, Reynolds has been putting his Maximum Effort production company to good use in signing deals with 20th Century back in 2018 that led to movies like Free Guy. Not content with having big hits with one streamer, Reynolds has somehow managed to grab himself a piece of almost every streaming platform going with his recent and upcoming work.

Despite taking a break from acting at the end of last year, Reynolds had The Adam Project and a new Apple TV+ Christmas movie Spirited shot before the start of his sabbatical. While promoting The Adam Project recently, the actor hinted that he has a lot to keep him occupied in the near future, first and foremost with the debut of Deadpool in the MCU.

There has been a lot of speculation about whether Deadpool will make his first MCU appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Reynolds has been keeping tight-lipped on that particular subject, despite the question coming up in every interview. However, he has said that things are moving along on Deadpool 3, and the script is almost done. In addition to this, The Adam Project director Shawn Levy has also been tapped to helm the new Deadpool movie, and has also hinted that Reynolds could have a sequel or two to add to the Free Guy franchise. All in all, it is an excellent time to be a Ryan Reynolds fan.
