Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment brand, and The Film Arcade have co-acquired the $25 million fantasy, action film The Adventurer: The Curse of The Midas Box at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is based on the best-selling novel "Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box" by G.P. Taylor. Directed by Jonathan Newman, the film stars Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, The Twilight Saga), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, 300), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Tudors), Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four) and Aneurin Barnard (The White Queen). The Adventurer: The Curse of The Midas Box will premiere on Ultra-VOD in Q4 2013 followed by a theatrical release in Los Angeles, New York and major markets across the country. The Film Arcade will take the film out theatrically, with Image Entertainment handling all other rights. The announcement was made today by Image Entertainment's Chief Acquisition Officer, Bill Bromiley, who had this to say in a statment..

"With the novel's strong following, there's no doubt that The Adventurer: The Curse of The Midas Box will be a hit with fans and general audiences alike. The film takes moviegoers on a fantastical ride that will entertain every generation of the family."

Executive producer Marina Fuentes had this to say in her own statement.

"Image Entertainment and The Film Arcade have proven that they can work with the Producers as a team. This was something essential for us. We believe that their highly professional teams will make a splash with this entertaining family film in the US market."

The Adventurer: The Curse of The Midas Box was produced by Karl Richards, Ibón Cormenzana, Ignasi Estapé and Peter Bevan.
