Get ready for some apples and arrows on the silver screen. According to Variety, The Adventures of William Tell is moving forward through producers Fred Caruso and D. Constantin Conte and their Caruso/Conte 2010 Pan-European Fund, as well is independent investments.

The script by Cornelius Schregle is based off the 1805 play by Frederich von Schiller, which encompasses the life of the Swiss hero who once had to shoot an apple off his son's head to gain freedom from Austrian persecuters.

Ian Quinn, a second-unit director and stunt coordinator, will make his directorial debut with this film. Swiss actress Kiera Chaplin, granddaughter of comic legend Charlie Chaplin, will portray Tell's wife.

Pre-production on the film is set to be under way this fall, with shooting scheduled to take place in Switzerland. A 2010 release is being eyed for the film.
