Despite dropping ratings, CBS has just okayed a thirteenth season of the reality competition series The Amazing Race. According to Variety, the new run will air early next year.

The twelfth season, which is currently being aired, wasn't supposed to bow until 2008. But the failure of Viva Laughlin combined with the writers' strike left CBS with no other option then to run the show early.
