Sony Pictures must like what they've been seeing from The Amazing Spider-Man set, where the film is still shooting in Los Angeles. Because the studio has hired original The Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt to pen the impending sequel.

James Vanderbilt wrote the original draft of The Amazing Spider-Man when Sony decided to scrap Spider-man 4 and reboot the series from scratch. He was working on Spider-Man 4 at the time this decision happened.

Alvin Sargent, who co-wrote Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, has also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man script. Only time will tell if Alvin Sargent is brought in to help with the sequel script as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man will wrap production in Los Angeles sometime in mid-April. James Vanderbilt also wrote Zodiac, The Losers, and provided a polish for the Total Recall remake as well.
