Though Joss Whedon's mammoth Marvel Comics ensemble adventure The Avengers is still nearly a year and a half away, Hasbro is already beginning to kick off Merchandising for the immense undertaking. First up, we have a look at the new Iron Man action figure line, which reestablishes the character as "The Armored Avenger". The packaging also gives us our first official look at "The Avengers Assemble" logo featuring Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Captain America: The First Avenger (Chris Evans). The image was supplied by a user on SpiderMedia.RU who revealed that the Iron Man suit being used in The Avengers will be similar to what we are seeing on this packaging, though it will be slightly modified and updated. These bullet points concerning Hasbro's upcoming merchandising plans were also offered:
- Hasbro is making a big push for the upcoming Marvel movies starting with "Thor" and the "Captain America: The First Avenger" in 2011.
- Hasbro broke these down as Iron Man: The Armored Avenger, Thor: The Mighty Avenger and The First Avenger: Captain America and you will see these themes pop up on Hasbro's packaging in 2011.
- Hasbro have said there will be an additional 6-inch Marvel Legends figures exclusive released in 2011, but they have not yet revealed any further details.
- Hasbro plan a big return for the 6-inch Marvel Legend figures in 2012. Although Hasbro haven't revealed many details but they have said that with the power of all these big movies on the way from Marvel, now seems to be the right time to bring them back.
