The Bad Batch will return to Disney+ for a second season this fall, and Star Wars Celebration brought with it a new trailer for the series. Along with many other reveals around movies, live-action shows and other animations, The Bad Batch was given its own panel at the event and that brought some new details about the series, new footage, and of course that trailer, which revealed that Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine will return in the series as a key character of the new season.

The Bad Batch is an animated spin-off series from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and follows a group of genetically mutated clones, known as The Bad Batch or Clone Force 99. In the first season, we were introduced to Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, Crosshair and Omega, but even as the finale played out, it was clear that there is a lot of scope for the series to expand, and it will do just that this fall. Dee Bradley Baker provides the voices for all of the clones, with the exception of Omega, who is voiced by Michelle Ang. Check out the trailer below.

Created by Dave Feloni, The Bad Batch became another big hit with audiences and critics on its arrival on Disney+, with an 88% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes. However, despite the high ratings and praise for the animation, there were some critics who said the series was perhaps too deep in Star Wars lore for non-fans to fully enjoy the show. Coming from Feloni though, it is hard to have expected anything less. There is obviously no doubt that the series will continue this trend when it returns later this year.

Many More Animated Star Wars Shows Are Coming To Disney+

Is Lucasfilm Announcing a New Star Wars Animated Series Soon?

Star Wars Celebration was full of new footage, announcements and trailers for upcoming shows like The Mandalorian and Andor. However, there has also been a lot of love shown for the animated side of the Force, with new announcements around Dave Feloni’s Tales of the Jedi anthology, as well as the return of Star Wars: Visions next year. Both of these shows, unlike The Bad Batch, focus on telling new stories around certain characters or themes from the history of the franchise, and with Visions already being a big hit last year, there are many anticipating the new season in Spring 2023.

Tales of the Jedi will be a similar anthology format, and will create new stories around some favorite characters such as Qui-Gon Jinn, who will be once again voiced by Liam Neeson, and Count Dooku, both of whom will be seen as younger versions of their live-action appearances. In addition to this, Feloni confirmed that at least three episodes of the series will focus on the origin and character development of Ahsoka Tano, who of course also has her own live-action series heading to Disney+.

All in all, it has been a good few days for Star Wars fans, who have been given a definite sign of where the franchise is heading in the future, both on the big and small screen. As Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy herself commented, Star Wars is here to stay and could go on forever.
