Andy Serkis is currently in talks to play Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves' upcoming superhero movie The Batman, and artist BossLogic has created some awesome fan art depicting how the actor might appear in the role. This envisioned version of Alfred features Serkis in a tuxedo stained with blood, suggesting a much grittier take on the character than many Batman fans are used to. It's not clear just how hands-on Alfred will be with the crime-fighting in the actual movie, but the art does make one thing clear: Andy Serkis will look awesome in the part. You can take a look at the fan art for yourself below.

Andy Serkis isn't the only actor who's reportedly in talks for a major role in The Batman. Colin Farrell has also been reported to be in the midst of negotiations to play the movie's new version of the villain Oswald Cobblepot, better known by his moniker Penguin. Like Serkis, the deal has not yet been finalized, and neither of these potential castings have yet been set in stone. It's worth noting Jonah Hill had also been in talks with the studio to take on an unknown role in the movie, only to walk away from the project when the two sides couldn't come to an agreement. As for Serkis and Farrell, their possible castings certainly seem more likely, but let's just remember that their involvement is not yet a done deal.

Penguin is in the midst of getting cast, but two other prominent villains from Batman's Rogues Gallery have already been officially cast. Paul Dano is on board to play The Riddler, bringing the inquisitive supervillain back to the big screen for the first time since Jim Carrey played him in 1995's Batman Forever. Meanwhile, Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravtiz has also been cast as Selina Kyle, taking over the bullwhip from Anne Hathaway who played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. Exactly which other villains may be showing up in The Batman has not been revealed, but it's clear the Caped Crusader will be taking on at least three of his greatest adversaries from the comic books.

Bruce Wayne and one of his closest confidants have been officially cast as well. Of course, we all know The Lighthouse star Robert Pattinson will play Batman in the movie, and the actor has already begun martial-arts training in preparation for the role. Westworld star Jeffrey Wright will also be operating the bat signal, as the actor has recently been confirmed by director Matt Reeves to play Commissioner James Gordon in the movie. As with the other casting choices, the announcements have brought about a variety of opinions, but I for one feel all of the names officially added to the cast so far have been on point.

The Batman is set to premiere in theaters on June 25, 2021. With filming reportedly to begin in early 2020, more and more casting announcements should be coming in the very near future. Along with them, we may be finding out more information as to which other characters will appear in the movie as well.
