Robert Pattinson's caped crusader seems to be safe from the recent Warner Bros. Discovery cancellations as director Matt Reeves has signed a deal with the studio, according to reports from Deadline. The filmmaker's production company, 6th & Idaho, signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. and Warner Television, allowing the company to pick anything Reeves comes up with in the upcoming years.

Earlier this year, Reeves launched his film, The Batman, which saw Pattinson take over the role of Batman, following a sadistic killer who begins murdering critical political figures within Gotham. Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, John Turturro, and Andy Serkis starred alongside Pattinson, lending themselves to one of the year's highest-grossing films. However, Reeves is far from done with the universe The Batman is set in, with one spinoff focusing on Arkham Asylum and the Gotham City Police Department and another centered on Colin Farrell's Penguin character.

Until now, the projects were seemingly up in the air. Since Batgirl's cancelation, every project within the DC Extended Universe and beyond has been under the spotlight for the company. However, the deal between Reeves and Warner Bros. almost ensures fans will get more Batman content. Warner Bros. Pictures Group Co-Chair/CEO Michael De Luca released a statement expressing his excitement about the agreement.

"Pam and I gratefully inherited the relationship with Matt from The Batman, and through the beginning stages of planning The Penguin series for HBO Max. We were excited to nail down his overall deal because it's a cornerstone of what we want to do with the filmmakers that are working at the studio. We want to create an atmosphere where all of these filmmakers can excel and do their work and stay with us once they are inside the Warners family. Keeping Matt and creating a home for him to do more projects in the Batman universe, but also originals, was very important to us."

Matt Reeves and his Batman franchise seem to be in a safe place for now; however, the DCEU is in utter chaos. Following Batgirl's sudden demise, several other projects received the ax from Warner Bros. Discovery. These include the Supergirl and Wonder Twins movies and multiple animated projects. However, Reeves is ecstatic to keep his universe alive, even if we end up seeing a different DC Extended Universe. The director tells Deadline, 'making this legendary studio my home is a dream.'

"Making this legendary studio my home is a dream. I am so excited to be working with Mike, Pam, and Channing and our teams to bring captivating stories I am truly passionate about to the big and small screen."

Fans of The Batman will be delighted to hear the news. But unfortunately, the confusion at Warner Bros. Discovery leads many to take a believe-it-when-they-see-it approach.
