More images from The Batman have been released. Introducing Robert Pattinson as a new incarnation of the Dark Knight, the Matt Reeves-directed film also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Colin Farrell as Penguin. New images have been released of these characters from the newest issue of Empire and they're now floating around on social media.

One photo depicts Batman and Jim Gordon looking for clues, while another has the Dark Knight face to face with Catwoman. What stands out are the other photos of the villains of the movie, including Paul Dano's version of the Riddler who looks like a green-tinted Zodiac Killer. Colin Farrell, who looks unrecognizable in his role as Oswald Cobblepot, is looking pretty Penguin-esque in the other image.

These sneak peeks are fun, and they're just a small part of all that we'll be seeing in The Batman. If the marketing is any indication, the Riddler will be the primary villain of the movie with The Batman focusing on his grisly murders along with the clues left behind. This makes it seem like Farrell's Penguin, who's based in part on Fredo in The Godfather according to director Matt Reeves, will only be featured in a much more limited capacity. Farrell tells Empire that he hopes Penguin will have an expanded role in the inevitable sequel.

"[Matt Reeves] mentioned Fredo to me, because Fredo's crippled by the insignificance that he lives within, in a family that is full of very strong, very bright, very capable, very violent men," Farrell said. "Which is why he commits the act of betrayal that he does, because he's weak, he's kind of broken, and he's in pain. There is a kind of fracture at the core of Oz, which fuels his desire and his ambition to rise within this criminal cabal. Where that rise goes ... I would love to get to explore that in the second film, if that was ever to happen."

Farrell also confirmed that he's wearing a padded suit in addition to the heavy makeup on his face to play Penguin. As he explains, "Matt had seen the character as classically somewhat portly, rotund, whatever the word. I'd just finished [Andrew Haigh's] The North Water, which I'd put on weight for, and Matt said, 'You look great!' I thought, 'Well f***in' say goodbye to it because I'm about to hit the treadmill. I need to get me health back.'"

Paul Dano's Riddler is much more shrouded in mystery. The character's face still has not been explicitly shown in any of the marketing materials. Any time we've gotten to see the front of the supervillain, he's been wearing that creepy mask. We can only hope Batman will get ahold of him by the movie's end to find out who this masked maniac really is, but will it come with a twist? Many fans have wondered because of the secrecy.

In any case, we'll all get to see the Dark Knight take on the Riddler and Penguin when The Batman is released in theaters on March 4, 2022.
