Last week, Jeff Bewkes, the CEO of Warner Bros.' parent company Time Warner, revealed that Ben Affleck's Batman reboot is about a year and a half out from being released, meaning it would roughly hit theaters in the spring of 2018. While doing press for his new thriller The Accountant, writer-director-star Ben Affleck revealed that the movie will be called The Batman for now. Here's what he had to say, while hinting that he could change the title at some point.

"The movie I think is going to be called The Batman. At least that's what we're going with right now. I might change it. That's about all I got right now. We're working on the script, the script is going well, I'm really excited about it. I assure you that when anything develops, you'll hear about it."

You may recall that, earlier this year, Ben Affleck's agent, CAA's Patrick Whitesell, revealed that his client had already written the script for this Batman movie, but it seems that there is still work to be done. The actor/filmmaker wouldn't shed any further light on the project in his interview with Associated Press. We did recently learn who will portray the movie's main villain, though.

We reported earlier this month that Joe Manganiello has signed on to play Deathstroke, the main villain in The Batman. Ben Affleck himself had previously teased that Deathstroke may be introduced in the upcoming Justice League movie, after posting a brief video from the set that clearly shows Deathstroke, although we didn't know at the time who would be playing the character. Zack Snyder also released a photo where he's seen working on storyboards that include Deathstroke.

Ben Affleck will direct The Batman from a script he is co-writing with Geoff Johns, who was recently named the head of Warner Bros.' DC Films banner. There have been rumors that The Batman will feature several of the villains from the DC Comics' rogues gallery, but none of these characters have been confirmed yet. Another rumor claimed that the movie will open with a massive prison break at Arkham Asylum, but that has yet to be confirmed either. Take a look at the new video interview with Ben Affleck where he confirms The Batman title.
