Disney+ released a new trailer chronicling the return of the bounty hunter Boba Fett for its new, live-action series from Lucasfilm, The Book of Boba Fett. Witness the return of the legend! Jabba's absence has created a vacuum, and the crime underworld is up for grabs. Boba Fett, with the help of Fennec Shand, plans his coup.

The Disney+ official synopsis reads: "The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate."

Speaking with SFX Magazine, Ming-Na Wen, who portrays Fennec Shand, explained: "In The Book of Boba Fett there will be a lot of exploration of the dynamics between Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, how they complement each other, and what they get out of that relationship. He's someone she respects and they have definitely bonded with him saving her. It allowed her to realise that she might be better off not being solo anymore. She sees her alliance with Boba Fett as a very smart move, in the sense that she'll have somebody watching her back. And even though it might be an extra baggage to have to align herself with someone else, the reward for her at the moment is greater. And you know, Boba died – or we thought he did – in the Sarlacc pit, so I think that both of them share those near-death experiences in common. They both have a vulnerability that they understand."

The Mandalorian creators Jon Favreau (Chef, Iron Man), Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez (The Director's Chair, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) will be directing episodes, along with Bryce Dallas Howard. Executive producer and director, Jon Favreau, gave some insight into the storyline, explaning, “There is a power vacuum, because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre. Although Boba Fett is a very experienced bounty hunter, he’s not experienced at running a criminal syndicate or managing forces. He’s not normally a newcomer. He’s an expert as we see him in most areas. But in this case, he’s trying to transition to another position.”

The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson are the executive producers. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck serve as co-executive producers, with John Bartnicki producing and John Hampian as co-producer.

Disney+ The Book of Boba Fett will have seven weekly episodes, commencing December 29, exclusively on the streaming platform.
