Universal Pictures is currently in casting mode for The Bourne Legacy, testing several prominent actors for the highly coveted lead role. Actors such as Joel Edgerton, Garrett Hedlund, Dominic Cooper, and Luke Evans will test for the part.

Testing will start the first week of April, and there is also speculation that Logan Marshall-Green will test as well. Shia LaBeouf and Taylor Kitsch have also been mentioned as contenders, although they likely won't screen test for the part. Taylor Kitsch has already met with writer-director Tony Gilroy.

Shia LaBeouf's name was mentioned last month, along with Garrett Hedlund and Taylor Kitsch. Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, and Kellan Lutz were also considered contenders, although it isn't know if they still have a chance at the role.

Tony Gilroy will direct The Bourne Legacy from his own screenplay, which will also leave an opening for Matt Damon to return as Jason Bourne. However, a report from December indicated that Matt Damon isn't pleased with The Bourne Legacy happening.
