Universal Pictures has tapped screenwriter Andrew Baldwin to rewrite the screenplay for their Untitled Bourne Sequel.

Justin Lin has been attached to direct this Robert Ludlum adaptation since November, with The Bourne Legacy star Jeremy Renner set to return as Aaron Cross. Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes) wrote the original draft of the screenplay, although no story details have been released at this time.

Frank Marshall is producing alongside Justin Lin, Jeffrey M. Weiner and Ben Smith. No production schedule has been given at this time, although the studio has already issued an August 14, 2015 release date.

The news comes just days after Matt Damon revealed he would be open to returning as Jason Bourne, as long as Paul Greengrass is back at the helm.

Andrew Baldwin worked on the Logan's Run remake for Warner Bros. and he also wrote the original thriller Bastille Day, which has Idris Elba attached to star.
