In Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, Antony Starr’s Homelander is often seen dishing out his fair share of punches when he is not frying people with his burning eyes. Recently, though, the actor himself is in hot water after being given a 12-month suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay compensation of more than $5000 for the drunken assault of a chef in Spain, The Daily Mail reports. The New Zealand-born actor is currently working in Europe with Guy Ritchie and was arrested on Wednesday morning following a reported disturbance outside an Alicante pub.

Starr will soon be seen back on screens as Homelander in the popular comic book series’ third season, but according to reports, he has only narrowly avoided an actual prison sentence after a speedy trial on Thursday following two nights held in custody. He was told that he had to pay 21-year-old Bathuel Araujo his compensation money within 72 hours, or he would be facing a custodial sentence.

According to the report, Araujo was said to have been punched twice by Starr before the actor hit him in the face with a glass, leading to the chef requiring stitches to a wound next to his eye. Araujo later told the press that Starr was “very drunk” at the time of the assault, which seems to have stemmed from a friend of the Spaniard’s asking for the actor’s friend to calm him down because he was “being a nuisance.” Starr apparently then launched his attack. After being ejected from the pub, the fight then continued outside, during which it was claimed by Araujo that the actor yelled, “You don’t know who you’ve messed with, you don’t know who I am and what you’ve done. You’ve committed the mistake of your life and I’m going to look for you. I want to kill you.”

The Boys Season 2 Star Teases Homelander Hugs and Plenty of Blood

Antony Starr is now best known for playing the depraved Homelander in The Boys, and while the character is known for his violent ways and less than pure morals, in real life, he would probably rather have avoided acting similarly to his on-screen character. His suspended sentence is pretty standard, as most prison sentences of under two years being delivered to first time offenders are generally suspended, and in the case of Starr it is on the condition that he does not re-offend in the next two years and pays the requested compensation to Araujo within three days.

Starr is currently filming in the country on Guy Ritchie’s untitled new movie, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal as an army sergeant on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan. However, Starr can be heard as Homelander from today in Amazon’s animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical, and will be seen in live-action again when the third season of The Boys arrives on Amazon Prime on June 3rd.
