New casting information for season 4 of The Boys has been revealed. Per Deadline, child star Cameron Crovetti has been bumped up to series regular for the fourth season in his role as Ryan, the biological son of Antony Starr's Homelander. He had been featured as a recurring star in seasons 2 and 3, and his new promotion suggests Ryan will be a much bigger player in the story heading into season 4.
Two more actors are also making their respective debuts in the series by joining season 4 as series regulars. This would be Valorie Curry (The Lost Symbol) as Firecracker and Susan Heyward (Orange Is the New Black) as Sister Sage.
Crovetti entered the scene as a child star with his role alongside twin brother Nicholas in the Prime Video title Big Little Lies. He also can be seen in the new Netflix movie The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. The young actor has also lined up roles in the upcoming movies Boy Kills World, Goodnight Mommy, and Oracle.
While Ryan made an appearance in season 1 of The Boys, the character was not played by Crovetti at the time, as Parker Corno was featured as the character, though he had no speaking lines. It had been explained in the series that Ryan was born after his mother, Rebecca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten), had been sexually assaulted by Homelander. His existence was a surprise to both Homelander and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) as Vought has been keeping Rebecca and Ryan hidden from the world.
The Boys Will Bring More Insanity in Season 4
The Boys gets crazier with every season which has fans wondering what will happen next in season 4. Showrunner Eric Kripke has teased that next season will be character-driven. Kripke previously told Variety that the new episodes will start filming in late August and that fans will be satisfied with what the creative team has in store.
"I'm starting to look at some early drafts of the first couple," Kripke said. "We're still early, I think right now we're in the middle of breaking Episode 3 and I'm reading a draft of Episode 1. And even in that stage, it's early with some heavy rewriting and we're still in there figuring it all out. But it's super interesting and fun and really, really emotionally rich. Probably as emotionally complicated as we've ever done. So far, that's been my big takeaway. Everyone is really facing their core issues in a way that's pretty exciting, a very character-driven season."
Season 4 of The Boys is currently in the works but does not yet have a premiere date. You can watch the first three seasons streaming on Prime Video along with the first season of the animated spinoff series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical. Another spinoff series that takes aim at the X-Men, dubbed Gen V, is also in development but doesn't have a premiere date set.
