The Boys season 3 is on the horizon, and the marketing is in full swing on Prime Video’s acclaimed superhero drama. The Boys is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series of the same name and centers on corrupt, shallow superheroes who frequently abuse their powers. The Boys satirizes many common superhero tropes and regularly pokes fun at real-world events as well.

Recently, The Boys team parodied the Justice League controversy that began with Joss Whedon stepping in after Zack Snyder’s departure and reshooting most of the movie. Snyder ultimately released his 4-hour cut of the film in 2021, all thanks to an elaborate fan campaign that included billboards and flying banners with #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. As part of its clever promotional strategy for The Boys, Amazon also chimed in on probably the most famous fan campaign ever.

Vought International is a giant conglomerate in The Boys universe that owns, creates, and markets superheroes aside from dealing in the pharmaceuticals and media industry. The company also has its own Twitter account and YouTube channel on which it posts fake trailers, ads, news programs, etc. In a series of Tweets, Vought mocked the Snyder Cut frenzy with its own #ReleaseTheBourkeCut.

Adam Bourke (P.J. Byrne) is the director of Dawn of the Seven, the seventh movie in the Vought Cinematic Universe, starring Homelander and the rest of The Seven. The film was rewritten by a guy named Joss after Stormfront’s concerns over female representation in the film. And on June 3rd, the day season 3 of The Boys debuts, the director will finally get to realize his vision in The Bourke Cut. You can check out the trailer below.

The minute-long trailer is quite reminiscent of Snyder’s signature style, from the color drained visuals and music to even the logo. All that’s missing is a couple of slow-motion shots. But the Watchmen director is not without a sense of humor either and responded in kind. "Congratulations to Director Bourke. Excited to see your vision realized," Snyder tweeted.

Prime Video’s The Boys is an anti-superhero show and serves as the perfect counter to the cheerful mainstream comic book films and TV series. Like the comics, The Boys also goes all-in on the violence, depravity, and often revolting acts of superpowered individuals. However, season 3 of The Boys is said to be the craziest one yet and will have "triple the blood."

The Boys is developed by Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and stars Karl Urban in the lead as Billy Butcher, the leader of the titular vigilante group that wants to deliver justice to the supes. The Boys also stars Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, and Giancarlo Esposito. The entire cast will be reprising their roles in season 3 alongside new additions, Laurie Holden as Crimson Countess and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, the world’s first superhero.

Soldier Boy’s arrival will further push the already unhinged Homelander to the edge, and with the Boys themselves getting 24-hour superpowers, as revealed in the trailer, we can expect season 3 to be more explosive and chaotic than ever.

The Boys season 3 premieres June 3 exclusively on Prime Video.
