There will be a lot going on in the third season of The Boys when it returns to Prime Video in June, but it doesn't appear that it will include the return of Stormfront. Played by Aya Cash, the character first debuted in the show's second season as a new member of The Seven following the death of Translucent (Alex Hassell) and demotion of The Deep (Chace Crawford). She was initially embraced by the public with open arms, but as was revealed over the course of season 2, Stormfront was harboring dark secrets all along.

It doesn't seem too likely Stormfront will be a part of season 3 of The Boys. She was left decimated by the end of season 2, and while she wasn't dead, Stormfront was clearly diminished. The possibility is always there she could be patched up for a potential return in the future, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards for season 3. Here's what Cash recently told Metacritic when asked for an update on Stormfront.

"The Boys comes out on June 3 and I'll be watching with the rest of you guys, unfortunately. That's my update."

Throwing the word "unfortunately" in there suggests that Cash is disappointed not to be a part of the third season, even if she's looking forward to watching it. Last year, Cash noted that she only signed a one-year contract to appear on The Boys, so she was just as uncertain about her character's future as the fans. Maybe she can still make another appearance somewhere down the line.

One reason Stormfront may not be coming back is because season 3 will see the introduction of several new Supes. Notably, the superhero group Payback, who were basically the original elite Supe team before Vought established The Seven, is said to be making a big part of the third season. The group is led by Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy, and it sounds like the group will serve as a focal point for season 3.

"Season 3 delves a lot more into the history of how we got here through this character of Soldier Boy," showrunner Eric Kripke previously explained. "We were able to dig into both the history of the country and also really look at toxic masculinity, and masculine roles, and what a s**t-show that's overall caused. This whole f**king, independent Marlboro man thing."

On casting Ackles, Kripke added, "We had written Soldier Boy long before I cast Jensen. The majority of the guys we were looking at for that part were actually quite older than Jensen. Because it's a World War II hero. He happened to call me and we were just chatting and I'm like, 'Well I'm prepping season 3 of the show, and I have this character Soldier Boy, and it was a real pain to cast, and I haven't really found anyone. Hey, wait a minute, do you want to do it?' I sent him the script, and he's like, 'Oh my God, I totally want to do this.'"

The Boys will premiere its third season on June 3, 2022. Until then, you can watch the show's first two seasons, as well as the animated spinoff series Diabolical, streaming on Prime Video.
