Amazon Prime's hit anti-superhero series The Boys starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Antony Starr is coming back for a second season sometime in 2020. And today we're hearing from Quaid that the new season is going to be absolutely bonkers. Not just that but he says season 2's scale is a lot bigger and it will top season one's insane WTF moments. Specifically, Jack Quaid, who plays Hugh "Hughie" Campbell in the series, says this.

"Oh man, no one is ready for Season 2. It's just absolutely bonkers. I'll just put it this way, the scale is a lot bigger. I think we've topped season one, in terms of insane moments that make you say 'What the hell?' I've done things this season that are definite firsts for me in my career, and I probably won't do them again since. Definitely a moment... I can't give it away, but when you see it, you'll know what I'm talking about."

He adds this.

"And I think we've gotten way deeper with every single character on the show. It's bigger, but it's a lot deeper with everyone. And I think that that's what's important about Season 2 is not that you just go bigger and have more fights - which we totally have - but that you really delve into the characters and understand what makes them tick. And I know from Hughie's perspective, we get into a lot of that. So yeah. I'm just really excited for people to see season two. I think it's even better than season one, in my opinion."

Based on the killer comic book series from Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darick Robertson, The Boys centers on a team of badasses led by Karl Urban's Billy Butcher who takes it upon themselves to keep the world's arrogant and sometimes murderous superheroes in line. More specifically, the first season followed the plight of an everyman named Hugh "Hughie" Campbell who is recruited to be a member of The Boys after one of the city's superheroes accidentally super-kills his girlfriend in his arms.

As mentioned above, the first season of Amazon's The Boys was a big hit with not only audiences but with critics as well, snagging a strong 83% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: "Though viewers' mileage may vary, The Boys' violent delights and willingness to engage in heavy, relevant themes are sure to please those looking for a new group of antiheroes to root for."

On top of Urban, Quaid, and Starr, the first season of The Boys featured a killer cast including Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Elisabeth Shue. The much-anticipated second season of the Amazon Prime hit series from executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, This Is the End) just wrapped shooting a week or so ago and should be ready to rumble on Prime sometime in 2020. In the meantime, this update on the upcoming season comes to us from an interview Jack Quaid conducted over at ComicBook.com.
