The Boys was initially released in 2019 as the series followed a group of vigilantes who set out to take down the corrupt superheroes who tormented the lives of everyday citizens. Since the debut season, we've seen plenty of action, drama, and over-the-top gore. Of course, several characters genuinely hate each other within the series. However, their relationship off-screen is far better than their television counterparts. Fans are finally being treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the series, as The Boys have officially released their Season 3 bloopers.
In the gag reel, we see plenty of miscues, forgetting lines, and a far-sillier Homelander from Antony Starr. Jessie T. Usher jokes about performing the "longest hug in TV" as A-Train, while Jensen Ackles and Starr break down in the middle of their superpowered fight. Karl Urban and Jack Quaid can't keep a straight face on set, and Dominique McElligott has a hard time keeping in character as Queen Maeve. The Boys gag reel from Season 3 features the previously listed cast and other additions such as Tomer Capone, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, and Claudia Doumit. Fans hope to see more of their characters when The Boys Season 4 inevitably arrives on Prime Video sometime in 2023 or early 2024.
The Boys Universe is Expanding
In the current world of connected universes and spinoffs, The Boys is sure to follow a similar trend. The first spinoff was released earlier this year, titled The Boys Presents: Diabolical. The show is an anthology-format animated series with a collection of short stories that takes place inside The Boys universe. The show saw several key actors, such as Antony Starr and Giancarlo Esposito, return to voice their characters. The voice cast also added Grey Griffin, Ben Schwartz, Awkwafina, Don Cheadle, Michael Cera, and John Dimaggio, to name a few.
Another spinoff is in the works from Amazon Studios, titled Gen V. The show follows the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. The series has already rounded out its cast and wrapped filming, with talent that includes Patrick Schwarzenegger, Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Shelley Conn, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Alexander Calvert.
Although The Boys has seen multiple programs expand on the initial show, creator Eric Kripke assures fans they won't continue to add more spinoffs for no reason, as they should all have a purpose in the overarching universe. Fans can look forward to more from Amazon Studios in the coming years, as Gen V releases its debut season and The Boys returns for more in Season 4.
