As if the current global situation had not already caused enough trouble since bringing the world to a standstill, it could now put an end to the idea of The Walking Dead star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, appearing in the third season of Amazon's superhero series, The Boys. According to showrunner Eric Kripke, who has been openly courting Morgan for a role in season 3, we may all have to give up on that dream thanks to certain restrictions.

"I will caution everybody that [circumstances] could really screw that up, because he's a regular on another show. He is on The Walking Dead, so he can only come up for a couple of days. If there's still a two-week quarantine between Canada and the United States, that renders that impossible."

Well, damn. Kripke continued, "Of the many things [current circumstance] is screwing up in this world, a Jeffrey Dean Morgan cameo or a Jeffrey Dean Morgan role may be one of them. But if the quarantine is removed and a couple of things break our way? Then yeah, we'll try to figure it out."

Morgan publicly lobbied for a role in The Boys on social media last year and has since had discussed a potential appearance with showrunner Eric Kripke. "I absolutely have. There's one role we're already talking about", Kripke said recently when asked whether he has spoken with Jeffrey Dean Morgan about joining The Boys. "He has to, uh, we have to like coordinate. Because you know, he's on The Walking Dead, so he has another home. But we already talked about one role, and there might be a potential other that we're talking about. But we are, just this past week we were literally texting back and forth about trying to figure out how to get him on the show. I don't think it's a done deal yet, but the will is there, and we're both talking about it."

Coming courtesy of Amazon Prime, The Boys is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series is set in a universe where superpowered individuals are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by powerful corporation Vought International, which markets and monetizes them. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt. The series primarily focuses on two groups: The Seven, Vought International's premier superhero team, and the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control.

Thanks to the chaos of the first season, The Boys are now fugitives and foul-mouthed leader Billy Butcher is nowhere to be found. "It's a bit of a mystery," says Urban, on Billy's whereabouts. "The Boys are on the back foot and spend a lot of their time trying to make an impact and get traction for taking down the Supes. Just because they're wanted and in hiding doesn't mean they're gonna stop doing what they do. So, the objective is still fundamentally the same."

Season 2 is set to introduce several new characters, including Giancarlo Esposito as the mysterious Mr. Edgar, Aya Cash's rival superhero Stormfront, X-Men's Shawn Ashmore as retired super, Lamplighter, and Supernatural's Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara as the Female.

The second season of The Boys will premiere on Amazone Prime Video with the first three episodes on Friday, September 4, and new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9. The show has already been renewed for a third season. This news comes from ComicBookResources.com.
