The Boys very quickly established itself as one of Prime Video’s biggest assets following its debut, and the second season landed at a time many counties were either in Covid lockdowns or were restricted in where they could, or more importantly couldn’t, go meaning that many more people discovered the series in 2020. Now as well an animated spinoff, The Boys season 3 is coming soon, and showrunner Eric Kripke has been teasing fans on Twitter with an update on where post-production is on the new season and when a trailer is likely to arrive.

While reviews and reactions to the first season of The Boys were good, the second season saw praise for the comic book adaptation reach all new levels, and the show challenged the likes of Stranger Things as one of the most-watched programs across all streaming platforms. Now, after a two-year wait, the show's third season is already becoming one of the most hyped and anticipated of the year, alongside Stranger Things 4, The Mandalorian season 3 and the other Amazon giant, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Earlier this month, Kripke revealed that spinoff, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, will premiere on March 4th, bringing a whole new angle to the franchise, and now he has been tweeting again to give an update on the progress of the flagship show. He wrote:

“Alright, here’s an update on #TheBoysTV since you keep asking & I’m buzzed. We’ve final mixed 4 out of 8. Couple hundred VFX shots to finish, but they’re awesome. Just locked our first trailer today, will be out in a few weeks. GET READY.”

The Boys Brings One of the Most Violent Comic Book Franchises to Life and Fans Can’t Get Enough

The Boys
Prime Video

The first two seasons of The Boys recreated some of the most bloody, violent, and insane scenes that have ever been seen on-screen directly from their comic book source. While the third season’s storyline is mostly under wraps, there has been plenty to suggest that whatever happened in the first two seasons is going to be like an appetizer for the crazy scenes that are going to go down in new episodes.

As well as series regulars such as Antony Starr’s Homelander, Dominique McElligott’s Queen Maeve, and Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train, the new season will see the arrival of Supernatural star Jensen Ackles in the role of Soldier Boy, an addition to the franchise who has been getting a lot of attention, with the character's inclusion in the show having been rumored for some time before it was officially confirmed.

The new season of The Boys will make its debut on June 3rd, and although it has not been confirmed the series is expected to follow the second season in releasing episodes on a weekly basis rather than all in one go. With the final bits of post-production seemingly coming to an end and a trailer only a matter of weeks away, the hype for the return of The Boys is only going to grow as we approach its June premiere date.
