Fans of The Boys are gearing up for the third season’s finale, but star Karl Urban has already revealed that season four will be filming this summer with an expectation of putting out new episodes next year. The Amazon Prime Video series has continued to push the boundaries of taste and decency in its new season, with more craziness than ever before thanks to the much hyped “Herogasm” episode. Now, with things zooming to a conclusion, it looks like it won’t be too long to wait for the next installment in the brash, bloody and bonkers superhero parody series.

The Boys introduced a number of new characters in season 3, with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy being one of the most awaited additions to the cast. Among the many moments of chaos to be seen this season, the build up to last week’s clash between Soldier Boy, Billy Butcher and Homelander paid off with an epic battle that has helped change the game for The Boys final episodes.

Karl Urban gave a season 4 update to Collider recently, commenting that there are a lot of surprises to come and with the gang getting back together for filming in the next couple of months, they are coming soon. He said:

"Yeah, we're starting I think August the 22nd, we're going to be starting season four. So I'm getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can't wait. It's a fun gang to play with, we work hard and play hard, and I can't wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season.”

For a long while now, it has been no secret that showrunner Eric Kripke has wanted to have Jeffrey Dean Morgan as part of The Boys, but thanks to Morgan’s long-term work on The Walking Dead it has proved a bit of a headache logistically to make happen. However, Kripke recently suggested that Morgan could finally make an appearance in season 4. He said:

"Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of the show, so he and I are talking. We're trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that."

Kripke also suggested that he could attempt to bring about a full Supernatural reunion by also drawing in Jared Padalecki, who has also been on his hit list. He commented, “I would put Jared on the show in a heartbeat. I mean, he's really busy with his empire over there in Austin, but if it was willing to play, I would put him on the show in a second."

Again, with both actors being busy on other projects and The Boys seemingly ready to plough on into filming season 4, seeing them back on screen with Jensen Ackles may have to wait a little bit longer. For now, the penultimate episode of The Boys third season is available now, with the finale arriving next week.
