All hail Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the king of the badasses! That certainly seems to be a title that the popular actor is building on, as after playing the incomparable Negan in The Walking Dead, Morgan is now set to make his debut in The Boys season 4. According to one of the show’s stars, it is another “badass” new role for Morgan.

Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir in the show, recently spoke with The Movie Dweeb and discussed Morgan’s imminent arrival. As a piece of casting that has been on creator Eric Kripke’s most wanted list for some time, many fans, and some cast members, are keen to find out more about his mystery character. It seems though that Mitchell knows a little more than most about Morgan’s role and was happy to share just a little tease. He said:

"I would say his Sun sign is 'badass,' and his Moon sign is 'You don't even want to f---ing know.' I don't know how much can be revealed about that character, but I think the cool thing about this show is we're always going in different directions and showing you different storylines and different characters in ways you wouldn't expect, so I think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to play a role that stays with fans for a long time."

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Will Also Return as Negan in Walking Dead spin off Dead City

Negan - The Walking Dead
AMC

As well as making his debut in The Boys, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be taking center stage with Lauren Cohen in The Walking Dead: Dead City in 2023. The first new spin-off from The Walking Dead sees Morgan’s Negan and Cohen’s Maggie heading to New York, where they encounter a new threat from both the living and the dead.

The first trailer for the series arrived last month, and Dead City will be the first of three new Walking Dead shows arriving this year. For Morgan, still being part of The Walking Dead universe has been a bit of a surprise considering he previously thought of quitting the series after Negan’s initial story arc. He previously said:

"I think, originally, it was gonna be three years. I think that was [the plan]. I had a conversation with Scott [Gimple, executive producer and former showrunner], and it was like, 'You gotta be on it for at least three years if you want to be a part of this show.' I was like, 'That seems like a long time.' Little did I know that eight years later or whatever, we'd still be here. That eight years has gone by like that. Like that. I can't believe that we're here and celebrating the end of this show as we know it. It's unbelievable to me. There's been so many kind of iterations of this show through the years, losing people, having people come back."

The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on AMC in April, while The Boys season 4 is expected to arrive on Prime Video later in 2023.
