Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have issued an October 3, 2014 release date for The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle. The thriller will go up against 20th Century Fox's Gone Girl in wide release, along with limited release titles The Good Lie and The Hero of Color City.

No story details have been confirmed, but the project is based on the haunted doll Annabelle, which was featured in last year's hit thriller The Conjuring. The demonic toy was a part of a collection kept by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorrainne Warren (Patrick Wilson) and Vera Farmiga) in The Conjuring.

Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard and Eric Ladin star in Annabelle, with The Conjuring cinematographer John R. Leonetti directing from a script by Gary Dauberman. Peter Safran will serve as producer with The Conjuring director James Wan executive producing.

With its release just three months away, the first footage and images will likely surface in the near future, so stay tuned.
