We reported earlier this month that the Warner Bros. superhero sequel The Dark Knight Rises has started production, a shoot which includes several locations such as Pittsburgh, New York, Los Angeles, India, and the United Kingdom. It seems Newark, New Jersey may be another location added to this international production.

Newark mayor Cory Booker revealed on his Twitter account that the production aims to shoot in the city. Here's what he had to say below.

"Met with the producer and studio team for the next Batman Movie. Great people! They hope to film scenes in Nwk. Holy Brick City Batman! POW!"

The mayor, who appears to be a comic book fan, even offered his services to make a cameo appearance as Night Wing, although it seems that didn't go over so well with the producers.

"I offered to play Night Wing - they just smiled politely & looked at their watches."

It isn't known when The Dark Knight Rises will begin shooting in Newark quite yet.
