According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Darkness, a popular comic book published by Top Cow Prods., is the latest print property to go the multimedia route with plans for a feature film and video game adaption, though it has taken a circuitous route to get there. Platinum Studios and Blue Star Pictures have inked a deal with directors Danny and Oxide Pang to direct the big-screen adaptation of Darkness, created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl.

The comic book generated more than $25 million in print sales. Majesco, which was set to publish the game developed by Starbreeze Studios, recently sold the rights to Darkness and another comic book/video game property, Ghost Rider (also in the works as a feature film through Sony Pictures), for $8 million.

Starbreeze Studios also was the team behind last year's surprise hit The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, done for Vin Diesel's video game company, Tigon Studios.
