Miramax Films has been forced to delay two upcoming movies, The Debt, which stars Sam Worthington and Helen Mirren, and the Guillermo del Toro-produced thriller Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which stars Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes.

Deadline Hollywood has the news, which revealed that Disney's sale of Miramax Films to Tom Barrack's Colony Capital and Ron Tutor were cause for the delay. That deal won't be finalized until the end of 2010, or possibly early 2011, and both movies will be delayed until the new company, which will be named Filmyard, can officially take over.

The Debt was originally set for release on December 29 and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was to be released on January 21, 2011. No new release dates for either movie were set at this time.
