Ben Kingsley has joined the cast of Sacha Baron Cohen's new comedy The Dictator for Paramount Pictures.

We reported last night that Jason Mantzoukas (The League) is in talks for a role in The Dictator. Mantzoukas will star alongside Ben Kingsley as two Middle Eastern men who factor heavily into the plot line. Sacha Baron Cohen will play two roles in the comedy, both as a deposed dictator who has a unique experience while visiting America, and a goat herder.

Our report from last night also indicated that actresses Kristen Wiig, Anna Faris, and Gillian Jacobs are in the running for the female lead, a grocery store clerk, a role which requires improvisational skills.

Larry Charles, who directed Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Bruno for Sacha Baron Cohen, will direct The Dictator. Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, David Mandel, and Dan Mazer collaborated on the script.

Production will start in May, with filming to take place in New York City and Morocco.
