The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain star as Conor and Eleanor Rigby, a once-married couple who suddenly find themselves as strangers, both yearning to understand one another after a tragedy. The film was initially split into two parts, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her, which writer-director Ned Benson first debuted at the Toronto Film Festival. The filmmaker has cut both films into one, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. There are plans to release each individual movie later this fall. Take a look at the first footage from this upcoming drama, co-starring Viola Davis, Ryan Eggold, Isabelle Huppert, Archie Panjabi, Jess Weixler, Bill Hader and Ciarán Hinds, which debuts in theaters September 26.

Once happily married, Conor (James McAvoy) and Eleanor (Jessica Chastain) suddenly find themselves as strangers longing to understand each other in the wake of tragedy. The film explores the couple's story as they try to reclaim the life and love they once knew and pick up the pieces of a past that may be too far gone.
