The Raid star Iko Uwais will soon join action movie megastars Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, and Jason Statham in The Expendables 4, and the martial artist cannot get enough of working with such experienced players. Uwais, who will join the action movie franchise as the villain of the fourth outing, has been discussing working alongside veterans of their craft, and how their skillset helps with the collaboration process.

"Experience is very valuable for me to share a frame with senior players, who have a lot of experience. There are a lot of things that we share, what we think about them, beyond expectations."

Discussing joining The Expendables 4 with Okezone, Iko Uwais, who has already demonstrated his affinity for action movies with the likes of The Raid and The Night Comes for Us, is clearly finding working with such Hollywood legends as Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham to be a hugely rewarding experience.

Uwais is set to play the big bad of The Expendables 4, with the martial arts actor starring as a former military officer with his own army and a side-line in arms dealing. No doubt his activities will irk The Expendables crew in some way, with the team of mercenaries going toe-to-toe with Uwais and his army, an event that is likely to result in lots and lots of dead people. Uwais’ addition to The Expendables series is an incredibly exciting one, with The Raid star one of only a few who can not only keep up with the rest of The Expendables, but even has a good chance of beating them at their own game.

The wider plot of The Expendables 4 is being kept under wraps for now, though we do know that Jason Statham will once again reunite with Sylvester Stallone, with the pair expected to be joined by many familiar faces including Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews. The fourth outing will also introduce several new faces, with the likes of 50 Cent, Megan Fox, and martial arts master Tony Jaa due to enter the action-packed fray. Andy Garcia has also been recruited to The Expendables' latest mission with the Academy Award nominated actor reportedly signing on to play a CIA agent assigned to accompany the team on their latest mission, which will no doubt lead to much bloodshed and explosions in the name of justice and a worthy payday.

It has also been revealed that Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone will only have a small role in The Expendables 4, with the actor stepping down from the franchise and making way for Jason Statham’s character Lee Christmas to take the lead. "This will be my last day," Stallone said in an Instagram post from the set of the sequel. "I'm enjoying it, but it's always bittersweet when something you've been so attached to - I guess since, well now it's been about 12 years - and ready to pass the baton on to Jason in his capable hands."

Directed by Scott Waugh, The Expendables 4 is scheduled to be released in 2022 by Lionsgate.
