Composer Benjamin Wallfisch channels Danny Elfman in the latest behind-the-scenes look at The Flash, which confirms that the Batman theme from the Tim Burton movies will return alongside Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight. Shared to social media by The Flash director Andy Muschietti, the clip is sure to give Batman fans chills as the score harkens back to one of the most beloved superhero scores of all time. Check out the clip below.

“Mad scientist @benjaminwallfisch briefly channeling danny elfman for the flashhhhh,” Muschietti says in a caption alongside the footage, which also shows those lucky enough to be in the recording booth reacting as audiences will when The Flash finally lands in theaters later this year.

Bringing back Danny Elfman’s Batman theme is sure to be just one of many Easter eggs in The Flash, which finds worlds colliding when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no superheroes to turn to.

That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement. Played once again by Michael Keaton after more than three decades, Barry will need this aged Bruce Wayne to help him save not just this world, but the entire multiverse.

The moment that Keaton slips back into the cape and cowl and the Danny Elfman theme kicks in is sure to be a wonderfully nostalgic one.

A recent synopsis has revealed further details of Michael Keaton’s Batman return. “When Barry Allen arrives in an alternate 2013, he urgently seeks out the expertise of his friend and mentor Bruce Wayne – but the one he finds in the Multiverse is different on all fronts: older, long-retired from service as Gotham City’s protector and somehow even more hardened than the billionaire superhero Barry has grown to know,” the synopsis reads. “With a global threat on the horizon, Bruce Wayne must decide whether he can become Batman once more.”

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash, Ezra Miller as another version of Barry Allen aka The Flash, Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, and Michael Keaton as the Tim Burton version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman.

The Flash is scheduled to have its world premiere at CinemaCon on April 25, 2023, before its release in the United States on June 16, following a whole host of delays.
