The first trailer for the Quibi remake of The Fugitive has now been released, and pits Kiefer Sutherland against Boyd Holbrook's falsely accused cop. The trailer drops the classic cat-and-mouse story slap-bang into the modern world, with an emphasis on the kinds of advanced surveillance technology and social media-driven news cycle that one would expect. You can read the official synopsis for The Fugitive below.

"Kiefer Sutherland (24) and Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) star in this edge-of-your-seat crime thriller from the creator of Most Dangerous Game and co-executive producer of Prison Break, in which an innocent man on the run, desperate to clear his name, is chased through Los Angeles by the cop who will not rest until he is captured."

This modern take on The Fugitive is, of course, a remake of the show of the same name that ran for four seasons on ABC from 1963 to 1967, and starred David Janssen as Dr. Richard Kimble, a physician who is wrongfully convicted of his wife's murder and sentenced to receive the death penalty. This was then remade into the 1993 Oscar-winning classic starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Directed by Andrew Davis and with supporting roles by Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Andreas Katsulas, and Jeroen Krabbé, The Fugitive remains one of Ford's best movies outside of his various franchises.

The Emmy Award winning Sutherland has proven both his ability to carry a series and his action hero chops with the long-running television show 24. Starring Sutherland as the iconic Los Angeles's Counter Terrorist Unit agent, Jack Bauer, the show followed Bauer and his team as they attempt to thwart multiple terrorist plots to protect innocent people. Sutherland has become synonymous with the grizzled, violent character, and it will be interesting to see how much of those same characteristics carry over into The Fugitive.

Boyd Holbrook meanwhile is known for his roles in the likes of Logan, The Predator, In the Shadow of the Moon, Run All Night, and the hit series Narcos. On the run for a crime he did not commit, it looks like Holbrook is going to have a much harder time hiding from the authorities than Ford ever did thanks to modern technology.

The supporting cast of The Fugitive includes several high profile actors including Glenn Howerton (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Natalie Martinez (CSI: NY), Tiya Sircar (Star Wars: Rebels), Genesis Rodriquez (Big Hero 6), Brian Geraghty (Jarhead), Daniel David Stewart (Corpse Run), and Keilani Arellanes (Euphoria). Stephen Hopkins, director of the 2016 movie Race, is the director of the series. The streaming series is a co-production of Thunder Road Films and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Warner Bros. Television as the studio leading the production. The series has been created by Nick Santora, who also created Quibi's Most Dangerous Game and was co-executive producer of the hugely popular Prison Break.

The Fugitive is due to be released onto the streaming platform Quibi on August 3 2020. This comes to us courtesy of Quibi.
