Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler's novel The Future of Us.
The story centers on a young girl who, in 1996, logs onto the Internet for the first time. An unusual website pops up which is her Facebook profile from 15 years into the future. Along with her best friend, the girl tries to adjust her life to fit into this future profile she sees.
The studio has not set a writer to adapt The Story of Us at this time. Jay Asher also wrote the best-seller 13 Reasons Why, which is in development at Universal with Selena Gomez attached to star in the adaptation.
The Future of Us will be published in November by Razorbill.
