Warner Bros. has released the official first trailer for the new horror thriller The Gallows. The film comes from genre-favorite producer Jason Blum and his Blumhouse productions, and it promises to be one of the many surprises unleashed upon audiences looking for a little something new at the cinema this summer. Earlier in the week, Bloody Disgusting also unveiled the first look photos from this gruesome tale.

The Gallows is a cautionary tale about leaving well enough alone! Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy. But ultimately, they find out that some things are better left alone. The first footage premiered at WonderCon, and fans have been waiting to see more ever since.

Described as a found-footage horror roller coaster ride, Cassidy Gifford is featured in the first photo, terrified and held under a crimson red stage light. The second photo shows co-stars Pfeifer Brown and Reese Mishler on stage performing The Gallows. The film hits theaters this July. Take a look at the first footage, and witness the arrival of what is surely a new iconic horror villain!
