The HangoverAlthough it had some alien invaders to contend with this week, some hard-partying buddies in Vegas managed to repeat atop the DVD sales charts this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Hangover hung on to the top spot on the DVD sales charts, for the week ending December 27, although it did face some stiff competition.
District 9 debuted in second place on the DVD sales charts behind The Hangover, selling 61% of the units that The Hangover sold in its second week on the shelves. District 9 did manage to bump The Hangover off the top of the DVD rental charts and the Blu-ray sales charts as well, with The Hangover dropping to second place in both charts, a week after sweeping all three in its first week. The BD sales charts race was fairly close, though, with The Hangover still performing strongly, selling 90% of the units that the District 9 BD sold. A monstrous 41% of all District 9's sales were in the BD format.
Inglourious Basterds continues to perform nicely as well, slipping just one spot to third place on all three home video charts and the only other notable release was the debut of Family Guy: Something Something Something Dark Side, which finished in sixth place on the DVD sales charts, which is fairly impressive given the number of high-powered theatrical releases going up against this straight-to-DVD animated disc.
