While at the BAFTA Awards this weekend, actor Martin Freeman accidentally let news slip that Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of The Hobbit . Both actors were in attendance for their BBC TV show Sherlock, which won Best Drama Series, and Martin Freeman revealed The Hobbit news while in the winners' press room.

The casting was supposed to be a secret, and, although Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed signing onto the cast, he would not divulge any details on who he is playing. Later, Martin Freeman was embarrassed that he let the cat out of the bag.
