Jason Bateman is in early talks to join the cast of Universal's comedy The Insane Laws alongside Vince Vaughn.

The story centers on two best friends (Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn) whose lives take a bizarre turn when their children fall for each other while away at college. The plot thickens even more when one friend's son knocks up the other's daughter, which puts their longtime friendship to the ultimate test.

Jeremy Garelick will make his directorial debut with The Insane Laws, working off his own original screenplay. Neal H. Moritz will produce through his Original Film banner.

The project will be a reunion in many ways for Jason Bateman and Vince Vaughn, who both worked together in Couples Retreat. Jason Bateman and Neal H. Moritz recently worked together on the Universal comedy The Change-Up, due in theaters August 5. Vince Vaughn is also reuniting with Jeremy Garelick, who wrote the 2006 comedy The Break-Up, which the actor starred in alongside Jennifer Aniston.

No production schedule was given for The Insane Laws.
