Just over two months after director Breck Eisner (The Crazies) signed on for Sony's The Karate Kid 2, the filmmaker has bowed out due to scheduling conflicts. The project has also gained two new writers in newcomers Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer.

Our report from April revealed that The Karate Kid reboot stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan are reprising their roles for the sequel, although no story details have been released at this time, and it isn't known when production may get under way.

Breck Eisner is currently attached to direct The Last Witch Hunter, which has Vin Diesel set to star, along with the thriller Blood of the Innocent. He was set to direct Stretch Armstrong before Relativity Media abandoned the project in October.

While Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer have no produced feature credits to their name, the writing duo made The Black List in 2010 with their script Family Getaway. They also wrote The Bodyguard remake, and sold their action pitch Speeding Bullet to Warner Bros. for mid-six figures.
