Kevin Hart was recently hospitalized from injuries sustained during a car accident, and his friend Dwayne Johnson has stepped in to pick up some of his packed schedule. The Fast and the Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw star reportedly left his honeymoon in Kauai early to sub for Hart on the first episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The premiere episode of the talk-show was filmed two days after the accident and in a clip released by the show, Clarkson tells her audience about the last minute switch.

"One of [Kevin's] good friends stepped the heck up and I love him."

On Sept. 1, Kevin Hart was riding in the passenger seat of a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it rolled down an embankment off Mulholland Highway. Although the actor is expected to make a full recovery, he had to undergo back surgery. The next day, his friend and co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to instagram to express his support.

"Stop messing with my emotions brother @kevinhart4real. We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong."

Filmmakers discovered Hart and Johnson's chemistry fairly quickly. The actors first starred together in the buddy action comedy Central Intelligence as a strong CIA agent and a fast-talking accountant. The actors were entertaining both in the film and on the press tour together, so the pair teamed up again for the reboot Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle where Kevin Hart's brand of panicky comedy juxtaposed perfectly with Johnson's level headed demeanor. Hart made an appearance in Johnson's Hobbs & Shaw and they are both reprising their roles, to a certain degree, in the upcoming Jumanji: The Next Level which hits theaters this December.

Both Hart and Johnson are known for packing their schedules with appearances and projects. Hart began his career as a comedian and in the last 18 years has amassed a filmography of 88 projects along with a handful of stand-up comedy specials. He works extensively behind the camera as well under his HartBeat Productions banner. He has served as executive producer on multiple tv series on which he also features including Real Husbands of Hollywood, Hart of the City, Kevin Hart Presents: Laugh Out Loud, TKO: Total Knock Out and more.

Johnson launched his acting career about 20 years ago, along with an extensive WWE Wrestling career that dates back to the mid nineties. Johnson quickly found a niche in the action and comedy genres, finding success in blockbuster films such as the Fast franchise, San Andreas and Rampage, just to say a few. He can be seen on the small screen as well in Stephen Levinson's HBO series Ballers where he plays a retired football star and current financial manager.

The Kelly Clarkson Show is taped before a live audience in Universal City, CA. The NCBUniversal show will debut on Monday, Sept. 9 and will air in syndication all over the country. It is produced and distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution. This news comes to us from Deadline.
