The game came out in 2013 with a sequel storyline that released in 2020. In this game, you play as the character Joel who pairs up with the young Ellie and the two begin this whirlwind journey through the uncharted territory of a zombie apocalypse. This game made headlines in the video game space and since so many people were invested in the story, HBO has taken on the responsibility of adapting it into a series set to come out, per Games Radar, in 2023.

Bella Ramsey

Bella Ramsey is cast as the headstrong, incredibly independent, and brave main character Ellie. You might recognize Ramsey from her infamous role as noblewoman Lyanna Mormont in HBO's Game of Thrones. At 18 years old, the young actress has also played Mildred Hubble in The Worst Witch, a drama that ran for four seasons. She is also the voice the title character in Netflix's animated series Hilda. This is only touching on a few of her projects, and with a resume like hers, it is safe to say that the role of Ellie is in good hands.

Pedro Pascal

The Last of Us has found its Joel! Pedro Pascal is cast to play the beloved video game character. Pascal is an incredibly well-known name in the entertainment industry and his past roles are reflective of his incredibly successful career so far. Pascal has made his presence as an actor known in many fan-favorite projects like Star Wars with his title role in The Mandalorian, in Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell, and in the DC Cinematic Universe as Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984.

Gabriel Luna

Gabriel Luna will be playing Tommy Miller in the upcoming series, so time to explore the roles he has played before. Luna played Rev-9 in 2019's Terminator: Dark Fate and Ghost Rider in the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (a role he may return to, in fact). Anna Torv

Anna Torv is an Australian actress who will be playing Tess in The Last of Us. She is probably most known for her role as Olivia Dunham on Fox's Fringe, where she plays an FBI Agent. She also stars in the 2021 drama series The Newsreader as Helen Norville. We are all definitely looking forward to seeing all of our favorite characters from the video game come to life, so putting a face to Tess has us all ready with growing anticipation.

Nico Parker

Nico Parker is an up-and-coming young English actress that we are beyond excited to see as Sarah Miller in The Last of Us. Parker has been a part of a few projects in her career so far. She played Milly Farrier in Disney's live-action remake of the beloved classic Dumbo that features other prominent actors such as Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, and Eva Green. She was also a part of the drama series The Third Day as the character Ellie and the sci-fi thriller movie Reminiscence as Zoe.
